Day 2

AM: Puerto Villamil (Tintoreras / Wetlands)
In the morning we will arrive at the fishing village in Puerto Villamil, south of Isabela Island. With an area of 4,588 km², it occupies more than half of the terrestrial surface of the archipelago. However, this island is relatively little visited because there is no airport and it is 5 hours by boat from Santa Cruz. Early in the morning you can see on the shores of the island blue sharks, sea lions and, with some luck, white fin sharks.

PM: Crianza Center / Wall of tears or Sierra Negra
The visit will continue to El Muro de Lágrimas, a wall built in 1940 by the prisoners that the Ecuadorian Government sheltered in this sector once took position on the islands. Our walk will lead us through a wetland of brackish water lagoons where flamingos are often seen.

In the afternoon, you will visit a Galápagos Turtle Breeding Center, here you can learn more about its purpose of protecting and safeguarding the various species of giant tortoises that inhabit Isabela Island, so that the population of giant tortoises does not decrease . On days with good weather there will be an afternoon excursion to the Sierra Negra crater.

In the afternoon we will visit Caleta Tagus, on the west coast of Isabela. This place, located at the foot of the Darwin volcano, was a popular anchorage site for pirates and whalers, some of them have written the names of their boats on the rock walls. After a walk of 2 kilometers, you will reach a small cave, where you can see some inscriptions of about 1800, including Charles Darwin visited Caleta Tagus on his trip in the Beagle. Here you can see penguins, flightless cormorants, and more seabirds. A steep trail through dry forests and cactus, will lead us to a salt lake of the green crater, known as Darwin Lagoon. Here you can see marine iguanas basking in the sun with bright red crabs on the rocks. Three species of Galápagos herons live here, along with pigeons and oystercatchers. On the other hand, this is one of the best places to see migratory shorebirds. At the end of the route, double-fur seals and sea lions will wait for us.

A small endemic tree of palo santo, called bursera malacophylla, a small endemic tree of palo santo, is only found here and on three small neighboring islands.

In the afternoon, if luck accompanies us, we will be able to witness a special spectacle: sea lions that surf in big waves, coming from the west.

Day 7

AM: Bartholome
The small island of Bartolomé, east of Santiago, is one of the most photographed places in the archipelago, due to a large rock in the shape of a pinnacle. This young island maintains a series of spectacular volcanic formations, a lunar landscape with small ash cones and lava tubes. The rocks served the pilots of the US Air Force. as targets for shooting practice during World War II. Bartolomé has two beaches that are separated by a narrow mangrove belt. On the north beach you will have the opportunity to swim or snorkel in an area where penguins are often seen. Sharks and rays live on the south coast, and from January to March, green turtles nest here.
